Business Case Conversation
Introduction to the benefits and importance of inclusive hiring and why it must be part of the corporate hiring strategy. The Business Case Conversation is delivered as a focused discussion that provides an overview of disability, case studies that highlight the business case (ROI) for inclusive hiring, and the overall benefits to a company when they create a culture of inclusion based on disability inclusion. The session is available in the following 1-hour formats:

Training
Disability Awareness and Confidence Training
The Ontario Corporate Training Centre offers (5) online self-directed training modules designed to increase capacity at all levels of business including: General Learning, Co-workers and Staff Teams, Managers and Supervisors, Executive Leadership, and Human Resources. Content and materials will educate employees and employers on disability awareness, inclusion, and accessibility promising practices. These resources promote confidence, understanding, and strategies for creating an inclusive workplace.
Learning outcomes for all training modules include:
- What does disability look like in Canada – the facts
- Dispelling the myths that create biases and barriers
- Case studies of businesses that have benefitted by creating an inclusive workforce
Learning outcome add-ons for Coworkers/Staff teams:
- Ways to have inclusive interactions in the workplace
Learning outcome add-ons for Managers/Supervisors:
- Considerations for successful implementation – avoiding management pitfall
Learning outcome add-ons for Executive Leadership:
- In depth case studies of businesses with an inclusive workforce
- How to foster a culture of inclusion and diversity across your organization
- How to support or encourage Employee Resource Groups
Learning outcome add-ons for Human Resource Teams:
- In depth case studies of businesses that have benefitted by creating an inclusive workforce
- Tips on how to create and engage a diverse workforce in your business
Coaching For Inclusive Interviews
Employers receive coaching and training on conducting inclusive interviews that consider the unique needs and skills of candidates who have a disability. This service helps employers create a welcoming, accommodating, and inclusive interview process.
Enhanced Employment Services:
Resources/tools delivered to businesses to support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of people who have a disability.
Organizational and/or Human Resource Policies and Procedures Assessments – This service involves a comprehensive evaluation of a businesses’ policies and procedures to ensure they align with disability awareness, inclusion, and accessibility principles. It helps identify opportunities for improvement and provides recommendations for creating a more inclusive workplace culture.
Online or Traditional Hiring Portal Assessments – The Ontario Corporate Training Centre assesses a business’s online or traditional hiring portals and makes recommendations for enhancing inclusive practices.
Job Postings and Job Descriptions Review and Recommendations – Job postings and job descriptions are reviewed to ensure they are free from bias and are using clear and inclusive language. Recommendations are provided to increase accessibility, lower the use of ableist language, and attract a diverse pool of candidates, including those who have a disability.
Recruitment Planning – This service involves supporting the development of a strategic recruitment plan that includes strategies for attracting and hiring people who have a disability.
Relationship Building with Local Employment Service Providers – The Ontario Corporate Training Centre helps businesses establish relationships with local Employment Service Providers. These relationships can support the recruitment and retention of qualified candidates who have a disability.
Relationship Coordination and Management with Local Employment Service Providers – Once relationships with Employment Service Providers are established, this service involves ongoing support and coordination to ensure effective collaboration between businesses and Employment Service Providers.
Jobs Ability – This service includes providing options to join Jobs Ability Canada, an AI-driven virtual platform that connects job seekers who have a disability to employers. Employers can post jobs and search potential candidates for job openings, increasing inclusion in their recruitment journey. Eliminate unintended barriers found on typical online recruitment platforms. Recruit and hire talented candidates from the only platform in Canada built by, and for people who have a disability.
Additional Resources – The OCTC is building a library of resources for businesses to access that will include toolkits and resources for equity deserving populations including, but not limited to, 2SLGBTQIA+, Indigenous, newcomers, women, and youth. Resources will also include information about mental health, substance use, literacy and skills training, and disability to continue a businesses’ inclusion journey. These topics are integral components of the intersectionality framework. Recognizing that an individual’s identities can intersect in complex ways, these resources offer a holistic approach to understanding and addressing the needs of employees and customers alike.
