Strengthening Healthcare Through Disability Inclusion: A Panel Discussion
Part of the Work Without Barriers event series for NDEAM 2025
October 28, 2025, 1:00PM EST.
Canada’s healthcare sector is facing one of the largest labour shortages in the country. In the third quarter of 2024, there were 78,600 unfilled positions (EDSC, 2025).This gap threatens not only healthcare access, but also the well-being of existing staff.
Disability inclusion offers a path forward. Hospitals and healthcare organizations that build disability inclusive teams are better equipped to attract and retain talent, strengthen collaboration, and deliver exceptional patient care.
As part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) 2025: Work Without Barriers Series, this panel will feature healthcare leaders who have started or have grown their disability inclusion journeys. Panelists will share candid insights into the challenges they’ve faced, the lessons they’ve learned, and the impact thatdisability inclusion has had on their organizations.
